Condenser coil rotting away from the bottom

I really like this window unit quiet and cools great but after a couple of years the entire condenser coil fins are rotting away from the bottom up. I have anther LG window unit in my bedroom and the fins on the coils are fine. Both units are about the same age. Is there anything I can do to stop or replace the condenser.

The unit does appear to work well. What is a bother is the frequent messages on the Thin app and the face of the unit saying I should change a filter on a brand new unit at 250 hours? which still looks brand new. This is not very helpful.

MY ADVISE DONT BUY FROM LG
The unit came with the coil bended/ Damaged and to return they want me to bring it back to UPS as Im a disable person. Ive spent 100 Dollars to the technician to come and install and he said to return as it would give me troubles in 4 months of high usage because of the damaged coil. That is huge disappointment and money waste. I should have read the reviews before buying this. Be careful buyers.

This is one of the best ACs I have purchased in recent years. I tended to buy only Friederichs units. This unit is on par with and even better than others purchased: 1. its efficiency in quickly cooling a room since its circulation capability is high It brings the room room quicly to the desired temperature I set. 2. its quiet performance--amazing 3. Ease of installation 4. and energy efficiency. The only aspect I can not vouch for since I have it less than a year is its durability and how long the unit will last In fact I like it so much that I will purchase a second one and early replace one of my units non-LG that has 2 years max to last. A Rusted Mess After Just 4 Months

I took this air-conditioner out of a sunny east-facing window in Boston after just four months and found a rusted mess inside.
There is a drain plug in the bottom of the unit but the instructions from LG specifical state it should remain installed while the unit is in use and is only to be removed to drain water from the unit prior to removing it from the window and storing it away for the Winter. In hindsight I never shouldve followed these instructions and instead removed the plug before installing the unit in the window. Going forward this is what I will do but I fear the lifespan of my unit has been greatly reduced by all the rusted components.
On top of this the unit only has a 1-year warranty so the next time I need to use it 7 months from now it will be out of warranty. If it rusts this much after just four months how long will it last before a vital component rusts away and the unit dies ?
I guess the only option I have is to remove the drain plug and hope.
Very disappointed in LG.

This A/C is excellent I bought it to replace a recalled Midea and I made the right choice. The Midea was a 12000 BTU inverter unit and this one is a 14000 BTU dual inverter unit and it is cheaper to run this unit even though it is larger. The LG is also quieter and cools quicker. Installation was relatively easy I read the instructions twice before attempting and the install went without a hitch and even though it was recommended to have two people for lifting the unit I didnt have any help and I was able to manage just fine. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this unit to anyone .

I purchased 2 of these air conditioners. They look very nice. Very quiet full of nice features. Both of mine arrived damaged. The damaged was not due to shipping. The cooling fins were damaged on both units. The damaged occurred because they were packaged incorrectly at the LG factory. Parts were placed directly against the front fins on the condenser coil crushing the fins over which reduces the ability to cool. These were out of stock so I was unable to exchange them and I needed them now. Rather than waiting or driving 60 miles round trip I bought a tool to try and straighten the fins as best I could. I contacted LG and the person I spoke with didnt seem helpful.

I thought I would try the LG model LW1522IVSM. It seemed like a good purchase at first. After about 3 to 4 weeks of using it I started getting a CH 41 error. I would have to clear it several times by unplugging my unit and resetting it. After about a month with over 15 attempts I would give up. Suffer through the heat and call the company to get someone to come to repair. Then it would mysteriously start working before the person would come. I would cancel and do this again. I finally had someone come out and repair it. Not even a few days of using it and the horrible CH 41 code came back right after a humid day from a bunch of rain that week. I dont understand why my unit keeps throwing this code as soon as its humid or it rains. Its installed correctly and repair has been out to my home. I called today to schedule another repair due to it not working. I have my elderly mom living with me and need to keep my home comfortable for her as well as the rest of the family and I cant even do that with the unit shutting down every day. I do like that there is low noise and energy efficient but it has to work properly in order for all that to go hand in hand. I am quite disappointed in this model due to the error code popping up so much. In all honesty I dont think the inside of the unit is safe for the electronic components. I noticed when the repairman was working in the model that they didnt look to be encapsulated properly. At least not enough to keep the components dry and safe so that it wouldnt cause issues with it. It wasnt the repairman fault as he done a great job trying to fix it. The AC is made that way.

We live in SWFL and bought this unit in 2021 as a temp unit. So if we had to run off the generator we could stay cool. Of course Ian hit and we ran on generator power for 2-1/2 weeks. AC unit ran great and kept the house comfortable. Then it sat on the shelf. Fast forward to 2024 Milton hits and we are on generator power. Plug in unit worked great for about 8 hrs then current interrupter kept popping. I checked the cord and three fuses to make sure they were all good. All checked out good. Replaced the current interrupter unit runs about 5 minutes and pops GFCi outlet. Plus isnt plowing cold air. Pretty frustrated

Purchased several of these two years ago. After buying the first loved the quiet powerful cooling. Remote control was also nice via phone. Bought four more of various sizes. The last one just conked out. All the same. CH67. Fan motor just jiggles wont turn. Repairs cost as much as a new one. So to summarize very nice design and operation but at nearly twice the cost of a bit noisier unit and lasting only two years cannot recommend.

Ive only been using this for a few months and the verdict is still out on the performance of it being I have already had to schedule some warranty work of which we still dont know if it fixed the problem as the weather has not been to the point of being able to test the unit completely yet.
At first I really liked how quite and yet powerful it was and that was until coming home from an errand one day to see the unit flashing an error code that shut the machine off which I did like that aspect of it. CH26 was flashing which stated it was an electric current issue but while running dialogists the error code was CH29 which is the compressor error which I was later told created the CH26 error.
While they ran a test they could not duplicate it in the very short time they ran it so instead of going deeper they went ahead and replaced the motherboard only. Now just have to wait and see if that was the issue or not.
I do like the LG app though as I was able to start the A/C on my drive home from work right from the phone. If you have problems with your unit ever I suggest you take pictures and video if able to being once you unplug the unit which is recommended it will reboot everything as if nothing ever happened. Thank fully I had these to provide being LG wanted me to do home testing prior to them dispatching a tech. Less then 2 hours and the unit quit again which gave me the error messages I could not provide to LG.
Again still open on the end review as since they came out and potentially fixed the issue I have not been able to run it for more than 3 hours and that was the same day the tech came out and asked me to run it after they left.

The AC window unit stopped working after 2 months and dealing with LG and their warranty is a joke. We are on week 3 with no AC and are waiting for a 3rd technician to come inspect the unit. Safe to say we basically got taken for $550. By the time LG decides to replace the unit summer will be over and let me not forget to mention the HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Bought this unit specifically because of the dual inversion system. The dual inversion system is much easier on the 2 compressors and also runs far more efficiently than a standard 1 compressor unit. It is extremely quiet as well. Very highly recommend.

This AC has been a absolute nightmare for my apartment. I am giving it two stars as I could see it might work for a stand-alone house where the back would point out to an unused wall. But for me it has been a terrible terrible choice and I wish I had bought a different brand. Bought this to replace a 15-year-old fridgidaire model that had cooled excellently but had lived out its life. This LG unit does NOT cool as well as that very old model even though this is 14000 BTUs in my 20 ft x 20 ft space. This AC is somewhat quiet but not as quiet as advertised on their specs due to the fan being pretty typically loud even though condenser itself is quiet -- note their low 44 decibel rating is really only for the sleep mode which does not cool much. But the truly terrible part is that it literally pours liters of water out the back constantly when on. My AC mounting space is above a sliding glass door so it has been horribly unpleasant as it drips on my head coming in and out of apartment. Customer service tried to say oh all ACs drip a small puddle -- this is NOT a small puddle amount it is like a rain shower and the water falls constantly even on drier days. My old AC only dripped when turned on after a long period of being off or on extreme humidity days. I suspect bad engineering of the drain pan or interior slinger fan functionality. Customer service has been polite but absolutely no help at all in solving the problem. They keep trying to say dripping is typical but that cannot be the case at this volume of water or the entire city would have pools of water outside of every apartment building. I have had to empty buckets of water a day from under this AC and now have to look into and pay for $$ some kind of condensate hose setup to make it livable. I hate this unit so much. I will never buy an LG product again except perhaps their TV line where they seem to do a bit better with their engineering -- I no longer trust their other engineering. Absolutely do not buy this one if you care about how the exterior portion of the unit functions or if you live in a multiple-apartment building.

I had a Crosley 13000 BTU window air conditioner that lasted for 21 years I was saddened when it failed to get me through a six day heat wave approximately three weeks ago. I knew that I had to make a change but figured that 21 years later I would no find anything that I liked as well. Much to my surprise after research online I found my LG 14000 BTU A/C and purchased it based on the information provided. It was relatively easy to install and much to my surprise cools very quickly and is quiet as was advertised. I knew within the first couple of hours in a hot family room that was quickly cooled that it didnt owe me a dime After using it now almost two weeks in more hot Oregon weather it has far surpassed my expectations

I Love this LG air conditioner It does a great job cooling off several rooms in our home. I like the very quiet sleep mode timer feature which also adjusts the temperature setting for a more comfortable sleep. I also like the digital remote control. Just installed 2 units - i had purchased 3 but found i didnt need the 3rd as they were so powerful.
They are really quiet and effective - very impressed.
The only criticism is that the directions were a little unclear and the first install was a little frustrating. But once id been through the first install the 2nd was a breeze.

Bought this last summer June 2023 for our first floor which is about 600-700 square feet to replace 2 older units. It was tough for me because they worked and sure this is way more efficient than two 20-year-old units but is it going to pay for itself in savings? Not any time soon.
But...what a great decision. Its much quieter and cools faster than our old units. I love having the app that shows the temperature energy consumption time to clean the filter etc. It was definitely a luxury item for us and I would do it again

Very happy that I selected this LG A/C unit to replace the failed old unit. I use it to cool my 24 x 32 woodshop. I had the old unit mounted over the door and the new unit fit right in without much fuss
I was pleasantly surprised as to how quietly it runs I had to stop and listen to make sure it was functioning It doesnt matter to me since its in my shop but if it were in my bedroom I would be extremely pleased

Damaged product contacted customer service so many times and noone can help me. Finally returned the unit and i still dont have a refund 2 weeka later.

Product cools well but has manufacturing defects. The face plate was missing one of the tabs to snap it in place. The chases has one slot for a Tabe to fit into that was warped and distorted.

I will never buy an LG product again after my experience with LG Support or lack thereof. Installed unit the afternoon of 5/21/24. Early next a.m. it tripped GFI home circuit not the breaker nor the GFI built into the cord. Made sure there was nothing else on that circuit reset it and when compressor kicked on it tripped again. Went to their website and the manual and did all the trouble shooting steps. Turned temp up warmer so compressor wouldnt kick in but the unit would be online and used the troubling shooting/System test in the LG app. Everything OK. Turned temp down compressor kicked in GFI tripped again.
After an hour of going through their troubling shooting I contacted LG Chat support. They walked me through all the steps I had just done but spent an hour with them in chat repeating those steps. They requested a photo of the Breaker so I took a pic of the dedicated 20 amp Circuit Breaker I had an electrician install 7 years ago for the window unit I was replacing with this LG. Support then asked what the voltage of the circuit was so I sent them a pic of my Volt Meter on that outlet showing 121.4V AC. The support person on chat then disconnected and closed the chat.
Before calling support I thought it is possible that the GFI on that circuit was bad...they do fail. Fortunately I could test that by plugging the unit into another GFI circuit that only was powering my sump pump that was off and my crawl space light. Compressor kicked in GFI tripped. Neither breaker ever did and both circuits were 20 AMP circuits. So I call support and for the next hour they have me walk through all of the troubling shooting and diagnostics for a third time resent pics of 20 AMP breaker and volt meter readings. Sent receipts for purchase. She said she had to get approval to request a service call but would call me back by 10:30 a.m. Call never came so I called them again at 4 p.m. and they connected me to the same person. She apologized and said the approval was rejected but offered no other solutions. Finally after insisting that I bought the AC to use it she put me on hold to contact a higher up. She said she got it approved and I would be receiving a call in the next couple of days to schedule a service call from a local provider.
Call never came but I did get a case # and called back support on Friday 5/24/24. A different tech took my call and said that the person on 5/22/24 never got approval and didnt submit the service request correctly. I offered to buy another unit pay to have their tech install it and service the unit and only get a refund for the bad unit if the tech verified the unit was at fault. I NEEDED AC in that room not a run around. We walked through the troubleshooting for a 4th time sent more images of receipts breakers and Voltmeter readings and he said he had to submit it to higher ups and I would hear back in 7 days. This was Friday before Memorial Day so I said So before I even find out if you are going to do anything to fix this I have to go 10 more days without AC because of Memorial Day? He said no it would be 7 calendar days regardless of holidays or weekends. I said ok so I will hear back by next Friday? He said no it will be next Saturday it is 7 calendar days from tomorrow but they work Saturdays. Good thing I checked could have be 7 calendar days after the end of the month or a full moon?.
Not being able to wait weeks before the higher ups reject honoring their warranty or lack thereof I ordered another AC NOT another LG from Home Depot was delivered the following Thursday and I installed it and uninstalled the LG unit. What a surprise I didnt hear back from LG that Saturday as the tech promised. Not doing what they say seems to be a systemic problem with LG support.
I did however receive a text message from them the following Monday hmmm just like the 10 days I said to the tech who rudely said I was wrong? offering to walk through troubling shooting with a repair agent. Having done that 4 times before it is obviously a run around. Id be back at square one where I was almost 2 weeks earlier.
LG service should learn how to take care of customers like Home Depot does. LG had a chat tech disconnect me and two voice agents lie to me and offered no solutions. Home Depot processed the return and arranged pick up. I have confirmation of delivery of the bad unit and Ill assume Home Depot will honor their refund commitment. Ill keep buying from Home Depot but I will NEVER buy an LG product again and Im going to let everyone I know learn from my terrible LG service experience.
Home Depot stands behind the products they sell FAR BETTER than LG does.

Started up first time with loud fan blade scraping noise. Tech came out the following week made repair but did not leave any receipt or work order with my daughter who was there. Still have no idea if part was repaired or replaced. Hear a few seconds of blade noise upon starting now then quiet and working well so far. Was also confused that nowhere on AC or in manual does it indicate that it is a dual inversion unit??

I have 2 14k btu units but model LW1517IVSM of which I purchased in 2019 and would own NO other type LG window unit. And Ive had to order 2 Remote Controls replacements. Absolutely the quietest ac unit weve ever owned. Purchased from Home Depot. So Im guessing the LW1522IVSM is an upgrade unit and well be looking to purchase another pair of units soon.. 4.26.2024
