The cooktop is too smart for its own good. Despite owning the correct pans, the burners don't always recognize them. I have had to buy more pans in order to use all the burners. Once the "correct" sized pan is used, the cooktop works as it should and it is easy to clean.

We love our new induction cooktop! It looks sleek, cooks fast and evenly heats in every pan. The low temperature feature is excellent and keeps our food warm without cooking it longer. Also, there was no need to plumb in an instant hot water faucet at our induction cooktop because the water boils instantly! Even at high altitude! Cooktop works great and is very easy to clean. Last one died because of a design feature on the main filter board. A 20 cent fuse would have saved the circuit board but instead the fuse is built into the printed circuit and is not replaceable. Over a thousand dollars to replace the board. Bought a new one instead. Also the installation instructions are outdated. No baffle is included with this cooktop yet the instructions say to install it.

The cooktop Digital controls are hard to see, easily obscured by cooking residue. Requires frequent wiping of the controls. Previously had the GE induction range, and that cooktop was easy to see the dials while cooking. But that's the only complaint, the induction is wonderful to cook on.

After much research, we decided on the GE Profile series appliances, including the PHP9030DJBB Induction stove top. In the past 4 years, we have had to replace the stove top circuit board 2 times because only on burner works; and it needs to be replaced again. The first replacement was within a couple of months of installation. When it works, the stove top is wonderful-we love induction! But nearly every time we visit the condo (we are not full-time residents but we DO NOT rent the unit when we are not in residence) it is not working properly. Until circuit boards are protected, I would not recommend this appliance.

We have had the stovetop for about a month now and are relatively happy. It is easy to use and heats up very quickly. There are two issues. We knew before we purchased it that the only pots and pans that can be used are those that are magnetic. What we did not know is that, in addition, the pots and pans have to be the same size as, or bigger than, the burner you put it on, or the stove will not heat up. We cannot use our small pots and pans because they are slightly smaller than the smallest burner. The other issue is cleaning the stove top. You have to use a special cream cleaner, spread it around with a soft cloth and then buff long and hard to get rid of streaks. When there is cooking grease on the stove top I feel like I am simply spreading it around rather than actually cleaning it up. Also, contrary to the impression I had from the marketing material, food can harden on the parts of the stove top that do not get hot. The cleaner comes with a device that has a razor blade on it to get off hardened food. The likelihood of scratching the stovetop with that razor blade is high. So far I have been afraid to use it and instead have have very carefully used a scrubby pad that also comes with the cleaner. The bottom line is that you can eventually get the stovetop clean, but it takes a lot of careful work.

I new this would be faster at heating and cooking than my old electric cooktop, but this is amazing. I have had to adjust my old thoughts of what is medium high. I use a much lower heat level than with my old cooktop. The safety features are so useful. I never have to worry someone left a burner on.
We did have to purchase all new pots and pans to work with the induction top. But that was all worth it!

It tooks me a little bit of time to get use to it. I had to buy new pots and the information on your site about size of pot for the burner is very helpful. It boils water in not time, it even stop cooking my rice when it was done. I love it.

We were skeptical about how we'd like an induction cooktop because we've always had conventional gas or electric cooktop a in the past. Now that we've owned this GE Profile induction cooktop we will never go back to conventional cooking! It's faster, cleaner and fun to cook on. It cleans so easily and we do lots and lots of cooking. The price point was good and we prefer to eat at home so with money we would have spent on eating out all the time we could buy this cooktop easily! Using my Lifetime Cookware makes it a double win for us since they both provide the nice constant even heat and deliver perfect results every time! So glad we found this GE American made cooktop! It's a winner!

Cooktop is easy to use and clean. Medium sized pan doesn't work on larger cooking element. Two medium pans don't fit well on left side dual cooking element. Great built in timer. Total off switch is handy when cleaning surface.

Definitely Bad Experience with GE Profile

We bought our brand new house in 2009, including upgraded GE Profile appliances. In 2012, it wasn't clear if our cooktop caused (or not) a fired that cost our insurance company way over $100K in repairs to our house. At that time in 2012, we bought once again all GE Profile appliances. End of 2020, two of our cooktop burners had a portion that stopped working. Here we are again buying a new GE Profile Induction cooktop in February 2021 to replace the broken one. Not 4 months into this new cooktop, one burner does not get as hot or as quickly hot as when we bought it and now it is turning off in the middle of cooking. On top of it, our GE Profile dishwasher's door needs work, cause it got something loose and doesn't hold open unless it's all the way open, it actually slams down all the way. Our GE Profile microwave's turn plate stays running when we open the door until we close it and it has been repaired before as well as our GE Profile fridge. So, this is the last GE appliances we will acquire, unless GE offers them to us to try/test them for free and they'd have to provide all kitchen appliances at once. We are definitely not wasting more of our money on this brand.
