I ordered this cooktop to replace another GE Profile unit that developed frequrecommended.
It installed almost exactly in the previous units counter cutout. There was a minor interference with the counter top due to the relocation of the screws that hold on the control box cover on the underside of the cooktop. Otherwise it was a direct replacement for the older unit.
The controls are a little different, but once you get used to them it operates as desired and is overall a good cooktop - recommended.

Following an electrical spike 11 days ago, we have been without a cooktop and microwave and air conditioners. Our GE serviceman came today to see if things were repairable and, while they are, in the case of the cooktop, it was going to be too expensive so we opted to get a new appliance. Unfortunately at the moment nobody has stock and won't until August/September. We found a floor sample that works with our dimensions, so we decided to go that way. Brought it home and installed it right away. The part for the microwave won't arrive until mid August, but we can live without that. It is one thing not wanting to cook, but a whole lot different not being able to cook. While I haven't cooked on it yet, our last GE Profile worked great for 15 years and would still be working if not for the electrical spike for which the Electric Company took zero responsibility.

The cooktop is easy to clean and has a great modern look without knobs. We've had no problems with getting to understand it operation. The chimes are fast in response. The control lock works great to prevent accidental turn-on. My wife loves it!

We really like to cook top but probably will go for knobs next time due to being messy cooks and if water or oil or sauce splashes on cooktop by where the on/off indicator the burners will turn off all of them.

We have had our cooktop a little over a month, and it works great. We like the digital controls and lock feature. Only complaint is that it's hard to get clean. Surface does also stay hot for a while after the "hot" indicator light has turned off, so be careful.

Purchased this unit after our 10+ years old Profile died. Very similar feature set. The new model has a timer which is handy. It also has a larger number of smaller heating elements as opposed to fewer larger elements as on our older model. I assume this will help with more even heating. Overall very nice, but 2 quibbles with the unit: The button labels can be difficult to see. They should have been printed on with a much brighter color. I would suggest to GE on future models to swap the colors and print the controls in black over a grey background. The on/off audible tones are also annoying. Our old model had a simple 1-beep tone for on/off/ power level. The new model has 3 beeps pitching up or down for on or off. Combined with the difficulty in seeing the button labels, we occasionally appear to be playing in an 80's synth band. I would recommend the unit though.

I purchased this cooktop for its sleek look(no control knobs). I have had electric smooth ranges for many years and always liked their ease of use and cleaning. Hated the control knobs as they are the most difficult part of cleaning a stove. This cooktop has worked well even with touch controls. The only complaint is the chimes when turning on the burners or trying to turn on a burner while it is locked. Since the chimes are also a great safety feature, I will certainly get past them. I do wish I could use a burner and lock the cooktop so I couldn't accidentally turn on additional burners. Unfortunately, the lock only shut's off the entire cooktop. Overall, no complaints complaints. It is exactly what I wanted in a cooktop.

WE do not like; it burners are not arranged very well. Black glass top constantly shows everything that you don't want it to show. You have to wipe down constantly even if you haven't used it. Burner controls do not seem to align with burners. Hard to see the controls. Poorly designed cooktop.

I purchased this product to replace a 36" GE Cooktop that I had since 2009, hoping for similar performance. After using for 3 weeks, I have found that this cooktop heats up This This cooktop heats much slower than the previous. The settings that I had used on the previous cooktop are not the settings needed for this cooktop. Also, disappointed that there is only 1 'large' burner in the center middle which is an inconvenient space, as my previous had 2 'large' on the right front and rear.

This stovetop works just fine, but for some reason it seems very much blacker than our previous black glass top drop in stove top. It is hard to read the touch buttons to turn the burners on or off, even with the light on from the microwave over it. And it beeps whenever you touch it which i find quite annoying. I was replacing a 36" GE so expected it to be mostly the same.

The reason I liked this particular stovetop was for the large center burner, which unfortunately does not work. GE tech came out to tell me it they have to order the part, so another week at best before it is fixed. This is my first GE product (always buy Whirlpool) need to replace 2 more appliances will not be GE.

I had an almost identical model (this new one has a few more and newer features) that worked great for over 12 years! I only replaced it because we dropped something on it and broke the glass. If that had not happened I am guessing we would have had it another 12 years. This unit installed easily in the existing space and the smoothtop is beautiful!!

I wanted a cooktop with integrated controls so that food wouldn't get caught around the knobs but was concerned that touch buttons would be difficult to use or we'd activate burners by mistake.
