This product looks great. The shelving seems cheap, but then again, it™™s a basic fridge. My biggest issue is that the cord is way too short. I have to spend a few hundred dollars to have an additional outlet put in 2 feet below the current one because of this. It is extremely upsetting. I could use a properly gauged extension cord, but I would rather be safe. So my very basic fridge is now costing close to $1500 with delivery and electrician costs. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product if you don™™t have a well placed outlet.

This is a decent fridge at a decent price. The biggest issue is it is constantly making noise. If I had known that I would not have purchased it. Additionally, I would have stuck with the freezer on the bottom. Though I am not a fan of that, it is preferable to have the refrigerated items at eye/arm level.

The shelves are very flimsy. The bottom shelf cracked from placing a gallon of milk on it. The freezer door pops open every time the bottom door is closed. We had to install a lock just to keep the freezer from constantly opening. We installed the official GE ice maker, which makes lots of ice, but the ice tends to spill behind the collection bucket leading to a buildup of ice cubes on the bottom of the freezer. Food on the top shelf of the fresh food compartment tends to freeze. The compressor/fans are fairly loud. There is no alarm if the door is left open. For a low-end refrigerator all of these issues could be overlooked, but then it stopped working.
The refrigerator stopped cooling after 5 months. The GE warranty claim process was perhaps the worst customer service experience I have ever had. After 3 appliance repair technician visits, it was determined that there was a sealed system failure and the unit needed to be replaced. However, Bodewell customer service continued to attempt to find other repair companies rather than just replacing our refrigerator. Once a replacement was finally approved, we were informed it would not be available for several weeks. At that point we had already been without a refrigerator for 30 days. All in all, we would have been without a refrigerator for over 7 weeks if we waited for the delivery. Eventually I spoke with staff at my local appliance store, and was informed GE should have simply approved a return authorization so I could get a replacement refrigerator the same day. They were able to get this approved in a few minutes. I had called GE customer service 13 times and spent over 3 hours on the phone with Bodewell and no one informed me of that process.
In summary, the refrigerator functions fine as a low-end affordable refrigerator if you have realistic expectations. But, if you have any mechanical issues and have to deal with GE customer service, be warned.

Perfect garage sized refrigerator. The only problem (so far) is when closing the refrigerator door the freezer door pops open. It is loud therefore should not be considered for inside house. The height of the top shelf is great for (Fairlife) milk, large orange juice and creamer bottles, The shelves are deep and wide and holds several canned beverages.

The first unit that was delivered had a obvious defective seal on the door and was returned. The replacement unit did not get cold in the refrigerator after 24 hours and the freezer was at negative 25 degrees F. The 3rd unit is working but is much louder than my 24 year old refrigerator and does not have a light in the freezer and the light in the refrigerator is no enough to light the entire area.

We bought this refrigerator as a replacement for the same model we bought 12 years ago. We are very disappointed! It's loud, and the spacing between the shelves is either too small and things get lost, or too much and things have to be stacked, making it very inefficient. We also ordered the compatible ice maker and it doesn't shut off after the ice bucket is full, like it's supposed to. We've also had to replace our stove and dishwasher in the last year, and chose GE models. Although it seems cheaply made, I'm very happy with the stove! Not a fan of the dishwasher due to layout of the racks and it doesn't dry very well, even on the high Dry Boost setting. Also cheaply made. Not impressed with GE anymore, which had always been our go-to brand.

This refrigerator has never worked right. While it was still under warranty I had to have it serviced because everything in the freezer was full of frost. I was given some instruction by the technician who came out to use freezer bags instead of Ziploc bags and to never keep my freezer very full or very empty. I followed his instructions and there was no change. The warranty runs out. I purchase an extended warranty. I reach out to GE and say I've had this service twice same problem nothing's been rectified can you help. They took no responsibility for their product. They were uninterested in the fact that the customer was not happy. Customers usually have to buy more appliances at some point in time. So I had to buy a washer and dryer but I did not buy a GE product and I never will again. Horrible customer service.
After this review GE contacted me by email. They had a long list of questions and I gave them all the information that they required. My assumption was that since they were asking me for so much information and about three or four emails went back and forth that they were going to do the right thing and give me a courtesy technician visit. After the emails I asked them about the service and they said oh you have to pay for it. My question was why would I have gone back and forth with all these emails and calling if I was going to pay for it anyway. Makes absolutely no sense. Trying to get through their AI system is so difficult. The representatives you talk to all say different things. They sent me an email giving me a long list of things that I should try. I tried everyone nothing worked . I also sent them seven pictures. As you can see there is nothing in my freezer because it doesn't work. This refrigerator looks almost new. It has not been abused. This was a massive waste of my time.

2 stars because it is too early to review how it functions. But this fridge, delivered & installed by Lowe™™s, has 3 small holes in the doors on both sides. These holes allow the door hinges to be installed on either side. But there is no way provided to cover the unused holes. Very poor 3rd world design. Aesthetics are unsatisfactory.

Under no circumstances should you buy this unit! Or similar ones! An LED light failure requires a service visit and replacement of the entire main control board, a $150 part. This is ridiculous, an absolute disaster of a design choice. This is a known issue and GE continues to sell these units. Borderline sleazy behavior from GE.

Do yourself a favor and consult the owner's manual for any GE model you are considering, to confirm you can replace the LED yourself. Avoid models where the manual includes language along the lines of "An authorized technician will need to replace the LED light."

Upon installation it took the unit almost 24 hours to stabilize at the desired temperature. Once at temp, it seems to hold quite well. This unit is somewhat noisier that the refrigerator that it replaced.
This unit is shorter than the unit that it replaced and we really wanted a conventional top freezer unit around 23 to 24 Cubic Foot capacity, but it seems that all the larger units are the "double front door" type that we did NOT want.
The layout of the shelves in the refrigerator is somewhat of a disappointment to us. The "large" item shelf in the door isn't the bottom shelf, and multiple 2-Liter drink bottles can be placed on this shelf. The bottom shelf can only store small bottles (condiments, etc) that are narrow (ketchup, salad dressing, etc) and is hidden by the larger upper shelf. You have to bend over to see what is on the bottom shelf. The positions of these two shelves SHOULD have been swapped.
The main shelves use molded slots in the walls of the refrigerator for support (4 slots available) with a 5th slot at the bottom for the two salad crisper drawers. The refrigerator comes with two full-width class shelves that fit into the molded slots. However, the top molded slot is so high that a standard jar of jelly will barely fit on the shelf. Even using every other slot, the shelf below an empty slot is just barely tall enough for a fast food drink with a straw in it. It would have been much more user friendly if instead of 4 molded slots, that a rack of shelf rails and some brackets had been used, so that the user could adjust shelf heights to every two or three inches as desired.
The freezer section has one shelf and two molded slots for it. Our unit HAS the automatic ice maker.
Apparently, whoever designed the layout of the freezer never looked at the size of the ice maker.
With the ice maker installed, you CANNOT use the upper shelf slot in the freezer as the ice maker extends into the slot area. Using the lower slot for the shelf results in the shelf having 12 inches available height, while below the shelf there is only 6.5 inches of height available.

Recently bought this fridge to replace a bad fridge in our kitchen. Very spacious fridge but it seems t be a lemon which GE and the store are doing nothing about. For the last two months the fridge can barely maintain a 0 degree freezer and below 40 fridge. Today I tracked tempts between 42-50 degrees F with the thermostat on max! GE tech comes and says this is normal since its a cheap fridge... I could only imagine what this fridge would be like if it was in the garage. DO NOT BUY.

no buildup of frost yet. we've only had it a could months. noise level is good. runs quietly. sealing is good. shelving could be better. temperature is good. could use more space in the refrigerator section and less in the freezer. I have to get down on my hands and knees to see what's in the bottom of the fridge and/or back of the shelves. my next fridge will have the freezer on the bottom, so I don't have to bend over so much. Getting too old. otherwise, it is a good refrigerator.

Disappointed that the Freezer does not have a light. Can't place freezer items all the way to the back of the freezer in the lower shelf or vents will be covered. Difficulties of always having to bend down to get items from the refrigerator. Food items are hard to organized.

The freezer is has great space. The refrigerator itself is noisy it hums 85 percent of the time even it the doors haven't been open over night. I don't know if the shelves can be reconfigured but I feel they are inadequate.
We have items stored in the very back that is having ice form in the container.
I have since got it returned because of my previous statement. We had a technician come out from the company that we bought it and found it to be defective.

We got this fridge and within a few weeks it was not keeping the temperature in the fridge below 40 degrees. We had to get it exchanged - a major inconvenience. We've had the replacement fridge for about 85 days and have had issues twice with it. First with the vent getting covered by a package in the fridge and the temp rising to 50 degrees. We fixed that ourselves, but recently it has been making icicles and frost from the top of the freezer and had temps above 40 degrees in the fridge. We tried putting a piece of paper in the freezer & pulling it out - it slid right out with no resistance on the bottom edge. We have a repair person coming next week, and may need to replace the fridge again! Major pain in the neck. It also is pretty loud - running about 46-50 decibels. Shelving is a bit sparse so we end up having to pile things on top of each other and sit on the floor to organize things because it is very low to the floor.

It takes hours to pull that plastic wrap off. You don™™t need it on the bottom of the doors. No one on earth will look under the doors for scratches. You basically need tweezers to get all it off. Way overboard kill. Find a better type of plastic.

Like the stainless teel that does not show finger prints. Exterior slightly smaller than old but more interior space. Holds the correct temperature. Did not want extras such as ice maker or water dispenser that can fail.

This our second GE refrigerator. While we like the features and the styling, this refrigerator is much louder than our previous GE. You could barely tell the last unit was running. This new refrigerator I can hear while sitting in the next room.

It is pretty much what we thought we were getting. Our main complaint is the lack of a light in the freezer compartment. That seems a silly thing to leave out in such a quality machine.

Refri is good size and capacity but lacks freezer lighting and ice maker capability. I feel like it needs an extra tray or drawer to enhance shelving. Overall happy with the configuration of space. Regarding the efficiency, not sure yet as it is just new. Temperature seems to work right.

Love the fact that all shelfing is clear making it easy to see just what is there. The fresh food drawer is located in a much more convient location centered in the middle of the unit. U done good !!!!

The look is very nice but quality is very cheap compared to our old whirlpool . Our last refrigerator was 29 years old when we purchased this one. all the appliances are much cheaper now including Whirlpool. Plastic bins are very thin and the cold cut drawer could be a little larger. Capacity is very good, only time will tell how long this will last. Not expecting another 29 years from this one.

I purchased this refrigerator a week ago. I give it 4 stars, not because of any deficiencies, but rather only because it doesn't have many of the newer feature on the expensive ones. Now that was my choice. The location did not have easy water access, and I was limited by wall constraints as to the door and freezer alignment. I have been satisfied after one weeks use. It seems quiet - I do not notice it at all. I was worried initially about it getting to temperature. But that really turned out to be my impatience. I expected it to get to temp overnight, and it took about a day and a half. Since then both the refrigerator and freezer perform as expected. I purchased this as a replacement in house I expect to sell in a few months. The capacity is very good. I would recommend.
