We previously had a LG that would consistently stop and was awful. We purchased the GE 7.8 cu ft Smart front loader with the steam and sanitize cycle and could not be happier. The app that shows when the load is done, it very helpful. I will be buying GE appliances until further notice

Dryer is very good drys quickly seems to run at a shorter time then the old one we had. The only thing I was not impressed with is the lint filter which is a folding style it seems that the area where it folds is already showing stress lines and wear after only a month of use. Not sure how it will hold up over time. Time will tell. Would have given it a 5 rating except the lint filter issue.

The dryer works great. It dries quickly. I can do multiple loads in a row without having to wait for the dryer to finish. It fits a very large load. It removes an actually insane amount of hair and lint. My clothes always had dog fur on them with my old dryer but that isn™™t an issue now. I haven™™t used the steam or sanitize features yet but I™™m looking forward to it.

It works great. The test will be how close it comes to the service life of our 2002 Maytag dryer which was working perfectly when replaced. Only reason we replaced it was to match the Maytag washer that was also working perfectly but getting loud.

Update. I do like this dryer. Large loads are tough as i typically have to run the cycle again to get the load fully dry. Using the timer has help to mitigate this issue. The plastic window on the door has broken off and it's been only 25 days since I've purchased the dryer so it's takes on now and needs to be replaced. That's the only major issue.

Purchased online from Home Depot, three days after installation the dryer began to slowly decrease it's ability to dry...now it takes 3-5 full cycles on the highest heat and most dry settings to dry 1/3 of a load of clothes. Hired a technician to ensure the vent was clear, hired an electrician to confirm the circuit breaker and panel were good, and over the next three months it's gotten worse and worse, throwing random check vent, check filter codes, sometimes heating and sometimes not. GE hasn't responded about sending a tech out, and Home Depot says they won't do anything. Do yourself a favor: before purchasing this model ask yourself how big of a metal paperweight do you really need? Because that's what this is. Thanks, GE and Home Depot, for robbing us rather than honoring your responsibility as a manufacturer/retailer to sell functioning products.

I am beyond frustrated with this GE Smart Front Load Dryer. I bought this dryer in late 2023, expecting GE quality. Less than 2.5 years later, it started making a rhythmic, metallic banging noise.
I had to waste my time and pay a technician out of my own pocket just to diagnose the issue. It turns out the drum weld has literally split open. This isn't a "wear and tear" part like a belt or a roller™"this is the core structural integrity of the machine. A drum should last 10+ years, not 2! After researching online, it™™s clear this is a widespread manufacturing defect with this specific model.
The split weld is now catching and ruining my clothes, and more importantly, it's a major SAFETY HAZARD as lint can now leak into the heating element area.
I™™ve spent thousands on GE appliances, but this is unacceptable. If you are looking for a reliable dryer, STAY AWAY FROM THIS MODEL. GE needs to take responsibility for these defective drums and issue a recall immediately. I will never buy a GE appliance again unless this is made right.

The design of the lint filter is awful. Every time I use it, I feel enraged by the effort required to clean not just the lint filter itself, but also the lint that accumulates on the lining of the walls where the trap sits.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to put 130 tiny individual holes in the filter must have a sadistic streak. I never expected to feel this angry over something so seemingly trivial that I would sit on the floor of my laundry room and write about it.

Great dryer. Ample capacity, dries quickly, very quiet, nice looking. Ability to control/monitor with the app and Alexa is very convenient. At first, thought the numerous cycles were overkill, but as we get to know the dryer better, we find that we're using several of the various cycles and we're able to tailor the appropriate drying parameters to the type of load being dried.

I like the size. I'm able to dry my queen sized bedding. It dries thoroughly and the sensor prevents over drying. I can put multiple fabric blends in the dryer and each dries as needed due to the sensor system. Because of this it's energy saving. It doesnt require lengthy dry times. It's compatible stacker allows for space saving should relocation give me a smaller laundry area. It runs quietly and has sound alert option available when cycle ends. I love it!

It has only been a week, but I do love it. I enjoy the steam function. I like that I don't have to iron clothes. It handle my king size comforter with ease. It dried everything perfectly. I keep ours on "Mixed Load" and it manages to get everything perfectly dried without over-drying. The one area for improvement would be the lint trap: the one in this model is so bad it docks the rating by a star. I actually bought an extra one to have on hand knowing the hinges on this one are bound to break some day.

This dryer has ruined six articles of clothing that I have found so far. It has sliced holes into the fabric. After sticking my head into the dryer with a flashlight, I found the problem. It™™s two metal strips inside the door drum behind the pull-out filter. One of these metal strips came loose on one side, and the edges are razor sharp. As the clothing spinned inside the dryer, the edges of this metal strip cut the fabric.
I have a new dryer that I cannot use. I need this dryer replaced asap.
